Following the rapturous reception for their “Generator” single and launches in Sydney and in their home town of Wollongong, Chimers have released a new video and digital single for the track “Tooth”, which first appeared as the B-side on the limited edition 7″ of “Generator”.

Wollongong’s Chimers, whose self-released and self-titled album of 2021 has found fans amongst the likes of Henry RollinsFugazi‘s Guy Picciotto, and members of The Mark Of Cain and Mudhoney, are currently playing a host of shows up and down the East Coast, combining headliners with supports for Me First & the Gimmie Gimmies, the Scientists and Mudhoney.

The limited 7″ single of “Generator”/Tooth” and digital downloads of both tracks can be ordered now from Chimers’ Bandcamp page.

Like many good bands Chimers are a band born of isolation – not geographically – but via the pandemic.

Irish born Padraic Skehan and his life partner Binx, formed the band in their Wollongong backyard during the initial lockdown of 2020. Veterans and drummers both of the ‘Gong’s vibrant garage-scene – The Pink Fits, Drop Offs, Evol and more – Chimers is an altogether different beast, Padraic taking a giant leap forward by removing himself from the back seat and assuming the role of driver; singing, playing guitar and writing the songs that would eventually become their 2021 self-titled debut album.

It’s a sound and album that draws heavily on Skehan’s time as a youth in Ireland and the post-hardcore sounds of Dischord RecordsHusker DuThe Wipers and which has seen the band find friends and favour in like-minds The Mark Of CainHenry RollinsGuy Picciotto and Mudhoney. This is no mere nostalgia though, the band instead landing at the vanguard of a new generation of Sydney and surrounds bands – Body TypeSecond IdolDust, Private WivesR.M.F.C – borrowing from the past in order to create a future.

Although little recognised on its release, Chimers is now in its fourth vinyl pressing as the duo continue to find friends and influence others as the live shows keep on mounting.

For the new year, not only will Chimers re-present their album but also a 7”, the first of two, planned for the first quarter of 2023. At just 1 min 47 sec and 1 min 38 sec live favourite “Generator” and new track “Tooth” provide a double A side of raw urgent bliss.

A single launch in Sydney is planned for January 20th with support from Private Wiveswhile extensive touring will follow including supports to Me First & The Gimmie Gimmiesthe Scientists and Mudhoney.
