We Move Like Giants make a rumbling debut with ‘Devilry’

May 10, 2019

Menacing production comes together with a steely edge of a vocal on ‘Devilry’, the debut single from Adelaide/Melbourne four piece We Move Like Giants. For their first offering, the band toes a line between rap and dark indie, courtesy of a strong dynamic between hip hop artist Daydream Fever and vocalist Luke Carlino. A potent marker of the creative energy currently being explored in-studio by the group, ‘Devilry’ is just the sort of song to get listeners hooked.

We Move Like Giants, featuring noted ARIA Award Winning producers/musicians SIXFOUR (A.B. Original, Hilltop Hoods, Caiti Baker) alongside Daydream Fever and Carlino, is a meeting of the minds long in the making. All emerging out of Adelaide’s music scene and enjoying numerous successes in their own individual lanes, this collaboration has been on the cards for some years. Now, with ‘Devilry’, a long-harvested ambition has come to fruition.

‘Devilry’ shines in its intricacies, a noted trademark of SIXFOUR’s production style. Deftly moving between electronic and hip hop influences, there exists a darker undercurrent to the music that recalls the likes of Nine Inch Nails and Run The Jewels, two influences that have driven the creation of the We Move Like Giants sound. “‘Devilry’ is a song about the duality of humanity, the light and dark that affects us all. People are inherently good, but we all do bad things. God in the heart, devil in the veins. This can be applied to relationships, morals, day-to-day actions, and the inner thoughts that we never share.”

We Move Like Giants have brought together years of experience on the road and in the studio to the fore with the creation of ‘Devilry’, the first of a new collection of material to be unveiled as 2019 rolls out. A musical vision well in mind moving forward, this new single is a prime example of strength in numbers, as each member’s talents on the mic and at the production desk come together to create a single that bristles with electric energy and is executed with flair.
