Recently described as “The antipodes high-energy answer to Welch and Rawlings”, We Mavericks is Australian Lindsay Martin and Kiwi Victoria Vigenser, both well-respected accompanists in their own realms, but their original collaboration has been met with serious demand.
Making a bold mark on both sides of the Tasman with their festival appearances and shows, this award-winning duo (recipients 2020 Troubadour Foundation Award VIC & Nominated Best NZ Folk Artist, NZ Music Awards 2020) will perform their keenly-awaited debut album Grief’s a Gardener, thanks to the funding of Great Southern Nights, on Saturday 2 April 2022, in The Music Lounge.
“We are so excited to finally put on a show in Wollongong! Through fire, flood and plague we’ve rescheduled this album release but thankfully the extra time has meant we now have an amazing night lined up.” Says Linsday Martin.
Victoria continues, “It will be a celebration of musical resilience and live gatherings for us all, as well as a chance to showcase our debut, Grief’s a Gardener. Though it’s only been out in the world for a short time, we’ve been humbled to have been recently nominated for awards in both home countries.”

The show will also feature Wollongong based singer/songwriter LEO, performing a supporting set, and the night will be MC’d by performer/singer, Ruby Martin.
Great Southern Nights is a celebration of live music that takes place right across New South Wales. The dynamic event features hundreds of COVID-safe performances at live music venues across Greater Sydney and regional NSW in March and April 2022.
Great Southern Nights is a NSW Government initiative, delivered by Destination NSW in partnership with the Australian Recording Industry Associations (ARIA) to stimulate the revival of the State’s live music, entertainment and hospitality sectors, and in turn the NSW visitor economy, in response to challenges presented by the COVID-19 pandemic.
