The Enchanted Forest ‘Christmas through the looking glass’

October 03, 2020

Shellharbour City Council invites you to journey down the rabbit hole and experience Blackbutt Forest as you’ve never seen it before with all new Christmas experience, The Enchanted Forest.

Under the current Government restrictions, Shellharbour City Council has had to reinvent major events, including the 2020 Carols by Candlelight.

This year will see the launch of The Enchanted Forest, coming to Blackbutt Forest from Friday 11 to Sunday 13 December, as one of the new ways for the Shellharbour community to come together for the holiday season.

The Enchanted Forest is a night time walk that transports patrons ‘through the looking glass’ with an array of magical light displays, visual art, music, animation and the completely unexpected.

Part game, part performance, the experience has been designed to surprise, excite and captivate the senses of all ages.

Shellharbour Mayor Marianne Saliba said that The Enchanted Forest was an experience unseen before in the region.

“Although it’s disappointing that Carols by Candlelight will be unable to go ahead, I’m proud that Council has brought to life this incredibly unique and exciting new event to add to this year’s Christmas calendar.

“It will be a truly special Christmas event for family and friends to come together, to be delighted and inspired as they unveil the magic of the beautiful Blackbutt Forest.”

The Enchanted Forest will be a ticketed event with different time allocations for groups of 15 to make their way through the forest at 10-minute intervals.

Led by stunning lights, hidden faces, fairies, and glowing plants, with multiple key surprises along the way, the walk will take an approximate time of 30 minutes to complete.
