After releasing a series of successful singles, emerging music star Susan Muranty has just dropped a superb country pop-rock track, Sky Falls Out Of You.
The new single is a preview of her much-anticipated forthcoming debut album Turquoise. Sky Falls Out Of You is perhaps more pop than country or rock, but the track’s genre mix is part of its appeal. The considered production and Susan’s dynamic vocal performance perfectly complement the song’s melodic charms and evident lyric-writing prowess.
The Sydney-based award-winning songwriter and performer has amassed an impressive collection of accolades, including two nominations for the prestigious Hollywood Music in Media Awards (HMMA) – in 2018 for the winning lyrics to her song Stephen Hawking Wants You To and in 2019 for The Heart You Break The Hardest is Your Own.
These awards are just some of the many, including the 2021 Australian Songwriters Association Songwriting Contest Top 30 finalist award and the 2021 Tamworth Songwriters Association Songwriting Contest Winning Lyrics entry (The Heart You Break The Hardest) and Alt. Country finalist (Stop Time With A Kiss).
As Susan says of Sky Falls Out Of You, ‘I co-wrote this song with producer Sven Tydeman and Ritchie Neville, from the UK pop group Five. Sky Falls Out Of You is about pure happiness, falling in love, that electric moment when you look into someone’s eyes and the world goes away forever – or at least that’s how it feels.’
The song is also an ode to Sydney, romanticising the city’s fairy-tale-like aspects with a high degree of poetic skill. As Susan says about her musical aims, ‘I want to reach people, touch them with my words, fill their minds with something healing and soothing and beautiful. I also want to engage them with new ideas – get people thinking about stuff.’
Sky Falls Out Of You is an excellent introduction to Susan Muranty’s work, a catchy and emotionally vibrant track with a retro heart.
