Returning to the beautiful South Coast town of Gerringong, SurfLife Music Festival is back for a weekend-long celebration of music, surfing, food, fun and good times on Friday 11 and Saturday 12 June 2021.
After a rollercoaster couple of years, SurfLife Music Festival is bringing live music back to the home of some of the South Coast’s most talented artists and proving that music festivals are no longer a thing of the past.
The Whisky and Blues themed Friday night will see blues/gospel/folk fusion band The Blues Preachers headlining at Gerringong Town Hall, supported by The Marvellous Hearts, Wolf Whistle, Turpentine Road, Frank Sultana, Dan Overton and DJ TZF.
On Saturday night, local surf rock legends and triple j darlings, The Terrys, will be headlining supported by fellow-rockers The Rions, Swells, The Huneez, Joe Mungovan, HMO, Azza-D, Prodikal-1, Ren and The Rude Boys, The Laces and Calcite.
In addition to the two ticketed events, there will be free live music around the streets of Gerringong and a surfboard swap meet at Werri Beach Reserve throughout Saturday day.
Adam Loxley, festival director, explains: “With everything that’s happened over the last couple of years, we’re over the moon to be able to bring SurfLife Music Festival back to the beautiful South Coast.
“Despite the restrictions still in place, we’re so grateful to be able to present this year’s festival and give local bands a chance to perform and earn some money, as well as giving local businesses a boost.
“With Yours & Owls recently hosting one of the country’s only live music festivals since the pandemic in nearby Wollongong, we’re hoping this is a turning point for the live music industry and that festivals will no longer be a thing of the distant memory.”
SurfLife Music Festival is a proud supporter of the local community with a line-up of at least 50 per cent local artists, using local products and suppliers wherever possible, and employing locals to work at the event. The festivalbrings over 2,000 visitors to the town each year and provides a big boost for tourism in the traditionally slower winter period.
