Supasoniq – ‘Bottoms Up’ Single Review

Thursday March 25, 2023

It is not often that an Australian band can lay claim to a sound entirely their own, but SUPASONIQ manages to do just that. Drawing inspiration from the new romantic and punk scenes of the 80s, as well as contemporary popular bands, the duo of Eryn Pepyat and Paul Richards have honed their craft to perfection. Their philosophy is straightforward: if it doesn’t make you groove, it doesn’t make the grade. Their debut single, Bottoms Up, is a shining example of this philosophy in action. The track wastes no time getting to the point, with a driving guitar-led rhythm that is sure to grab listeners’attention. The chorus is big and hooky, leaving an indelible mark on anyone who hears it. The song’s message about reconnecting with oneself, friends, and family is universal, making it all the more appealing.

Eryn and Paul’s expertise in creating a classic power pop-rock track are on full display in Bottoms Up. But SUPASONIQ is not content to rest on its laurels. They have big plans for the future, with many new songs set to be released in the coming months. The band plans to showcase their music in major cities and pay homage to some of its great music influencers with a couple of covers. Their new track is taken from their upcoming album, which features songs that could all potentially be singles. As the band themselves say, ‘There is a super killer ballad on the album Back Against The Wall that is screaming movie SYNC.’ With a new single scheduled for release every eight weeks and the album dropping with the third single, SUPASONIQ shows no signs of slowing down. ‘Every heart’s gonna need a kick start / If you’re not gonna use it you might as well throw it away,’ goes one of the lines from Bottoms Up. And indeed, audiences will get a kick start with this new track, from its unrelenting opening to the chorus’s euphoric finish.
