+ REVEAL THEMSELVES AS THE MASTERMINDS BEHIND THE #EVERYONELOVESTHELIAR VIRAL CAMPAIGN
February 22, 2019
Brisbane’s melodic hardcore quartet She Cries Wolf are today revealing that their third album ‘Liar’ sees its release into the world TODAY. A complete surprise release, the band have spent the past month anonymously teasing the release through their hashtag #everyonelovestheliar. The album was released this morning, with all purchase options available at http://bit.ly/SCW_liar.
The #everyonelovestheliar hashtag had many guessing about who was behind the campaign – with figures from the heavy music and alterrnative scenes like both Ahren Stringer and Joel Birch from The Amity Affliction, Kevin Butler from Thy Art is Murder, Sabian Lynch from Alpha Wolf, Bobak Rafiee from Justice for The Damned, Jayden Ridley from Stepson, Aidan Ellaz from Dealer, Alt Models Chelsey Mac and Kara Lee all posting using the hashtag on their social media across Instagram and Facebook. Many believed there was new The Amity Affliction or Stepson material imminent.
The new album asks – “We’ve struggled through ‘Divorce’. We’ve lived with ‘Doubt’. And now the question is: “Which one of us was the ‘Liar’?”
Following on from the self-released, while-you-wait teaser ‘Cultist’ in January of 2018, the Queensland quartet are finally ready to unveil the darkest and most personal material of their career. ‘Liar‘ – the band’s third full-length LP – takes their chaotic blend of hardcore and metalcore and charges daringly forward into unfamiliar territory. Across eleven scorching tracks, She Cries Wolfmeld punk-rock aesthetics, concussive breakdown sections and brooding atmospherics into a potent, visceral and relentless record.
Vocalist Luke Harriss has always had tough stories to tell, and much like the band’s discography to date, fans won’t find any happy endings here. With raw, confessional lyrics that sear with emotional honesty and frustration, ‘Liar’ is the soundtrack to screaming for truth and escapism—and the ruin that awaits those brave enough to find it.
Hysteria Mag said in their review that “She Cries Wolf dive deep into fear and loathing for a strong and surprising return.”
Earlier this week, She Cries Wolf rolled out their seemingly stand-alone single ‘Magdalene’ featuring guest vocals from The Amity Affliction vocalist Ahren Stringer. The track premiered at Music Feeds and was promptly spun on triple j, added to Spotify’s Official Homegrown and Heavy playlist, spun on triple j unearthed’s TOPS program and added to rotation on The Faction radio.
triple j unearthed’s Tommy Faith said of Magdalene – “I saw that Ahren featured on the track and that definitely piqued my curiosity but it was those box cutter guitar slices that have me nodding emphatically.”
She Cries Wolf had a whirlwind 2016/2017 – which saw the release of their second album ‘Doubt’, a run of dates with friends Void Of Vision and Justice For The Damned, along with support slots for national and international heavyweights like ‘68, Parkway Drive, Every Time I Die, Polaris, letlive., Frank Carter & The Rattlesnakes and Counterparts.
Both She Cries Wolf‘s brand new album ‘Liar’, as well as single ‘Magdalene’ featuring Ahren Stringer of The Amity Affliction are out now at iTunes & Apple Music/Spotify/Google Play and all good online stores and streaming outlets at http://bit.ly/SCW_liar.
