Illawarra’s live music scene received a shot in the arm last night, with the relaunch of the live music stage at Ryan’s Hotel in Thirroul. The long time venue has been given a facelift; with a new stage, PA and lighting system, The new stage was run through its paces by none other than Irish singer/songwriter, and now Illawarra local, Ciaran Gribbin. Former vocalist of INXS, and now fronting his new Ireland Rocks show, Ciaran has played some of the biggest stages on the planet; but seemed right at home, and having a great time on the Ryan’s stage; with his amazing band featuring consummate guitar player Peter Northcote, Thirroul’s own bass maestro Zoltan John Budai, Lindsay Martin on fiddle and mandolin, and drum powerhouse Fabrizio Omodei. Special guests on the night included the sublime Dear Violet, Victoria Vigenser, and Vitaley from The Barefooted Souls Ryan’s Hotel manager Phil Driver say that “this is an effort to further support Thirroul, and the Illawarra’s thriving live music scene, and along with our sister pub Beaches hotel, we are committed to giving local talent, not only a place to perform, but to develop, and hopefully take Illawarra’s music talent to the international stage”. Be sure to get along to see the new look Ryan’s stage; preferably when there is someone gracing it, and keep updated with ‘what’s on’ via social media.
