RAS BANAMUNGU – PEACE & LOVE KEEPERS ‘ALBUM REVIEW’

Sunday 6th June, 2021

The new album for Ras Banamungu, the West Australian based vocalist, songwriter, percussionist, and professional laughter therapist, is Revelation of Oneness.

It follows a series of singles which include Smiling Face of Australia and My Sunshine. The album utilises a combination of roots music, blues and Afrobeat, and these converging sound choices can surprise as much they disarm, paving the way for an affable musical experience. What’s to critique about laughter therapy? That has to be good, right? All one needs to do is to spin the fifth track, Laughter and Laughter Therapy, to decide.

Ras Banamungu and The Det-n-ators International have won several awards, ranging from live performance accolades to love for their videos. Written and produced by Ras Banamungu, engineered, and recorded by Andrew Wright at Forest Studio Perth Western Australia, and mastered by Alex Saltz at APS Mastering New York USA, Revelation of Oneness is a concise assortment of world grooves, fun-loving hooks, and irresistible positivity. Ras calls the album, ‘An invitation to all the musical community to discover a deeper connection with one’s emotions, and bring together individuals, whilst on their separate journeys, together into a shared place of happiness and healing, whilst enjoying a new perspective of their present lives in style.’

The album also acts as Ras’s music teaching package, which offers a musical and syllable sound association system that’s capable of bringing relief to every stressful situation. As I said, you can’t fault that. As Ras says, ‘This new album will be of significant interest to musicians and musical people, both professional and amateur.’

Whether it’s the band’s previous releases or the more recent additions to their set, the new album is brimming with undeniable high-grade musicianship, intuitive production values and energy. Revelation of Oneness is a suitably animated blend of reggae, roots, blues, and Afrobeat music and a musical experience that offers many points of unambiguous difference.
