You’ve barely got the energy to kick your shoes off before you lay down in bed. The festival sounds from the last two days still ring loud in your head. You know you’ve maxed out your energy for the next two days, but it was all worth it.
This is the feeling behind the PIRRA’s latest single ‘Stealing From Tomorrow’ – an up-tempo dance Floor Filler, striking the perfect balance between bouncing synth pads and radiant vocal harmonies that will get you cruising into the post-lockdown groove. This single drops in the wake of the groups recent release via BLK&WHT ‘Drifting’, which has so far amassed critical acclaim with triple j Unearthed, and a plethora of radio spins including Home and Hosed Spot play alongside Rufus Du Sol, MUNGMUNG.

The song was inspired when the band went to ‘Yours and Owls festival’. “I was watching a dance set, and a song in one of the sets was a bit slower and the audience went wild for it. So I said “Right, we have to make a song at this tempo”
– Vocalist, Jess Beck.
“The idea for the chorus lyrics came when the band joked that we were stealing all the fun from the week ahead of us”
– Bass Player/Producer Curtis Argent.
“Lockdowns have been particularly tough on the music industry, so it feels good to release a song celebrating good times. As a band playing live is something that’s really important to us. But the silver lining was having time to focus on creating music and learning”
– Guitarist James McKendry
PIRRA will make their long-awaited return to the live stage with an intimate and exclusive one off home town performance on Friday 17th of December at Wollongong’s ‘La La La’s, where the group will debut all of their 2021 releases and back fan favourites alike. Molly Millington has been confirmed as a support.
As 2022 approaches, the band has their sights set on an extensive national headline tour, playing festivals along with the release of an exciting body of works.
“PIRRA have been serving up festival ready bangers for a while now and tbh it’s quite cruel that as we approach summer season, there’s not a heap of festivals ready and waiting for their anthems.
After working with PNAU, I feel like the band have unlocked some special ingredient and they can’t miss at the moment. A real ~ close your eyes in the mosh and feel on top of the world ~ type set is what this crew are sure to deliver.” – Declan Byrne, triple j
