Wollongong based band MMG have just released their latest EP Start Again, a collection of songs exploring the different stages of letting go of love. After taking a long 2 years between releases, Start Again is the most authentic and heartfelt show of their songwriting to date, taking you on a trip into a cathartic and cleansing space. Mostly written in the coastal town of Kamakura, Japan, the 5 track EP is sonically quite different to the band’s previous releases, taking inspiration from Bruno Major, John Mayer and Mac Ayers, Start Again goes everywhere from folk, to lo-fi, to R&B. MMG will be showcasing all of the songs from Start Again at their EP launch and first show since COVID restrictions on the 23rd September at Foundry 616, with Glenn Lumanta. The pop driven R&B outfit aim to write timeless songs and deliver it in a minimalist funk package. With a core focus on the songwriting styles of John Mayer & Stevie Wonder, twin brothers Mitch & Mike combine dense vocal harmonies, synergetic guitar work, and solid grooves to present a Vulfpeck style live show. From chilled-out lo-fi R&B to hard-hitting modern funk, MMG is sure to engage listeners both educated and easy-going.
