Local alt-country star COREY LEGGE

launches third album in Wollongong

February 27, 2022

Described as “A national treasure in the making” (Kath Devaney, ABC Country) Corey Legge is a Bega born, Illawarra based alt-country and rock musician, returning to the Music Lounge to launch his highly anticipated, third studio album, What Now? On Friday 4th March 2022.

Recorded with award-winning country producer Matt Fell, whose credits include the ARIA Best Country Album The World Today, Troy Cassar-Daley (2021), and CMAA Golden Guitar Album Fallow, Fanny Lumsdem (2021); the album is a masterful collection of alt-country, folk and rock songs that tell stories of the Black Summer Bushfires, COVID-19, survival and hope from Corey’s lived experience. The album was made possible with a Create NSW Arts and Cultural Funding grant.

“It is the first time I have written a concept album and I am very proud of the finished product.” Says Corey. “I hope that the stories that have been captured on this album will help people to heal and move forward with their lives.”

Corey Legge begins his tour at The Music Lounge, Wollongong’s premier live music venue, in a double bill with Genevieve Chadwick and The Stones Throw, before performing at other regional venues and the Tamworth Country Music Festival.

“I have been living in the Illawarra for four years now, so my album launch show at The Music Lounge in Wollongong with the mind-blowing Genevieve Chadwick & The Stones Throw is sure to be a special night,” says Corey.

“It is important to me that the first show on the tour is in Wollongong, as it gives my home crowd the first opportunity to hear the album performed live with my band.”

Corey will be backed by his band, featuring local musicians Adrian ‘Red’ Herbert (Drums) and Matt Crawford (Bass).

Opening the show is Genevieve Chadwick, a ferocious South Coast musician with her own original brand of blues and raw energy by the bucket load.

“I’ve got a bunch of new songs that have been road tested and worn in over the past year that I can’t wait to play at The Music lounge.” Says Genevieve. “The band is firing and we are showcasing a lot of the new material that will be on my next record.”
