Australian-based music artist Kaiwyn’s first two singles, Dedicated To You, and the follow-up You’re My Kind attracted a lot of attention, with the second release scoring the No. 1 position on Pulse FM Hawkesbury Radio’s Discovery Program in January 2023.
The emerging singer-songwriter and producer has now released his third track, The Cut After The First, a super-hooky slice of contemporary pop that’s sure to eclipse his previous successes and set him on the path to global recognition. The new track features a direct yet compelling lyric—a kind of unofficial response to the classic Cat Stevens track The First Cut Is The Deepest—a series of infectious melodies, powerfully polished vocal performance and production that brings out the most of the contributing elements of the track.
The Cut After The First, a song dating back to his high school days, explores the longing for intimacy when one is entangled with another. Kaiwyn’s narrative involves an intriguing intersection of music and medicine. After completing medical school, he found himself in Tamworth, NSW, for his internship and residency. He participated in the Tamworth Busking Championships in 2015, performing covers and a handful of original songs. His dedication to healthcare persisted, and he remains committed to striking the perfect harmony between his two passions.
As Kaiwyn has said, ‘My work in healthcare, especially in psychiatry, feels like a double edge sword for me, learning and understanding human emotions and actions to a certain degree with references to abundant of varying psychoanalysts’ theories of mind.
It is just fascinating! Just have to be mindful not to dwell too deep and end up opening an endless Pandora box!’ The Cut After The First features sure-fire hooks, convincing performances and highly relatable yet explorative lyrics and is sure to impact streaming platforms on a global scale.
