Dicey Riley’s Irish Pub has been an institution in Wollongong since 1893. With a bar that you can pull up a seat, an open fireplace, authentic pub grub & authentic characters – some would refer to it as the “last true pub of the ‘Gong”. We certainly don’t disagree and the team at Yours and Owls are honoured to be partnering up with them to bring Wollongong a new and revamped live music experience.
The Y&O team love Dicey’s just the way it is, and wouldn’t change a thing about it – established trivia nights, piano karaoke and dart competitions will go on running, and the pub will remain a buzzing hub for all sorts of after-work relaxation. On weekends, however, we’ll have the immense pleasure of bringing pub patrons two nights of expertly curated music acts that reflect the spirit of our beloved local.
Dicey Riley’s has always been about bringing a bit of fire to their live music, and we’re stoked to keep that fire burning with the introduction of Saturdays at Dicey’s. Kicking off at 9PM every Saturday night, we’ll pay weekly tribute to the gritty energy of a true Irish pub with a free line-up of rock n roll, punk and alternative acts.
Yours and Owls have collaborated with some esteemed and outstanding booking agencies, including RIP Society, Girls Rock, Filthy Crew, Banshee Booking Agency and Dusty Toothbrush to get our hands on an incredible roster of interstate and home-grown talent who are just as keen as we are to blow the roof off the place. We’ve stacked the line-ups with noted heathens and hooligans such as Mesa Cosa, Bakers Eddy, Phil Jamieson (Grinspoon), Los Tones, SCABZ, The Stiffys and Bruce! to name a few.
If just one night of free music isn’t enough for dedicated pub-goers, then Diceys and Y&O have it covered with the weekly after-party for Yours and Owls Sundays, rounding out the week from 9PM every Sunday night. These will have more of a wind-down vibe to celebrate the weekend with vinyl versus DJ sets between local and touring familiar faces, pool and darts on the house, plus cheap pizza slices and schooners of everyone’s Dads’ favourite beer – Resch’s.
This Saturday marks the first in what will be a series of nights & memories that will continue to bring Dicey Riley’s to the forefront of our local live music scene. We are truly honoured to help carry the torch of this venue, and stoked to bring our fantastic crew along for a pint at the bar.
