GOSH release new EP, FRANKENSTEIN

GOSH flex a matured, finessed grip on indie songwriting with their new EP, FRANKENSTEIN

September 17, 2019

When it comes to defining their sound over the last 12 months, GOSH has proven that theirs is a dynamic that refuses to be rocked.

Following on from the release of their power-punch single ‘Take Me Home’, the Wollongong foursome now further explore the scope of their anthemic indie sounds with their new EP, Frankenstein.

Recorded at The Grove Studios with Jack Nigro (Birds of Tokyo) and mastered by Steve Smart (Cub Sport), Frankenstein is a rollercoaster journey of rhythmic ups and downs, crashing percussion and heartfelt lyrics brought to life.

It’s a strong statement of intent from the young band who have been taking strides in gathering more speed in front of crowds around the country.

‘Take Me Home’ is a strong example of the emotion and passion GOSH’s songwriting has flourished with over the last year. The listener is able to hear the confidence with which the band has applied to the making of the wider record.

Previous singles ‘Never Lose You’ and ‘Say Another Thing’ demonstrate the clever marriage guitars with melodic rhythms, buoying uptempo vocals and a confident delivery.

Existing in the same lane as Boy & Bear and Gang of Youths when it comes to chest-punching energy and immersive production, GOSH have manifested some huge sounds on Frankenstein – a monster effort of their own.

PRAISE FOR GOSH

“The power and beauty of GOSH’s songwriting that the song feels relatable to every listener, with feelings of upbeat euphoria managing to turn ‘Take Me Home’ into a contender for the biggest summer anthem you’ve ever heard.”
ToneDeaf

“It is a superb, anthemic track, written a relationship going through a breakup, carried on irresistible melodies that subtly grab you via lush guitars, keys and vocals.”
Little Indie Blog (‘Take Me Home’, 2019)

“There’s traces of Gang of Youths in this emphatic new one from GOSH. It’s big and passionate.”
Triple J, Declan Byrne (‘Say Another Thing’, 2019)

“‘Say Another Thing’ is full of infectious melodies and an impassioned build in instrumentals and intensity.”
Music Feeds

“The raw and rich vocals are equal parts pleading, rebellious and ever-so-melodic. Vocalist Zachary Gervaise has pulled out a fantastic performance on this track, and I’m sure will be a voice finding a more permanent place on Australian radio soon.”
Depth Magazine (‘Say Another Thing’, 2019)

“Wollongong indie-rock five-piece GOSH are a band on the edge of a national breakout, with their cult-like audience growing in both size and voice as the band seemingly go from strength to strength with every release.”
Pilerats

Since breaking out further onto the national radar off the back of Triple J Unearthed’s Yours & Owls Festival competition last year, GOSH have earned themselves a reputation as an exciting name out of the South Coast. With the release of Frankenstein, such a reputation is simply bolstered.
