Folk music has long been established in Wollongong with the Illawarra Folk Festival now running into it’s 35th year, and emerging from the scene that the festival has helped to create, a group of young artists have come together to create a winter lineup of top quality acts titled ‘Folk in the Frost’.
This year’s event has attracted the talents of a national headline act in Claude Hay, and features local acts Kane Denelly, Kay Proudlove, The Water Runners, Wolf Gordon, The Black Moon Band, Kenny Bartley, and LEO. Building on the success of last years show, event organisers Joel Adams and Nick Blow aim to celebrate the genre by showcasing a diverse range of fresh acts in a cosy setting. The historic band room at the Heritage Hotel, Bulli will play host, with hopes that the smaller venue size will allow for a vibrant atmosphere and a vivid connection between artist and audience.
Folk in the Frost will be held at the Heritage Hotel on Saturday the 29th June. The event kicks off at 2pm and finishes before midnight.
