JOHN BUTLER, SAN CISCO, STELLA DONNELLY & THE WAIFS JOIN FORCES FOR BENEFIT CONCERT TO SUPPORT VICTIMS OF THE AUSTRALIAN BUSHFIRES
January 08, 2020
Fire Aid – From WA, With Love – A benefit concert raising funds for the fire services, local communities and wildlife protection groups in the Eastern States will take place on January 31st at the Fremantle Arts Center, with some of the countries most loved bands.
John Butler, San Cisco, Stella Donnelly and The Waifs are joining forces for a night of impassioned music to raise money to assist with the continued fight and recovery of the fire ravaged Victorian and New South Wales States.
In a strong statement of solidarity with the Eastern States, renowned Western Australian musicians will come together for one night of uplifting live music, with all proceeds from ticket sales being donated to a number of causes that include local NSW and VIC fire services, local communities and wildlife organisations:

Josh Cunningham and David Macdonald from The Waifs and past members of John Butler Trio, have all had to evacuate their homes both in Victoria and New South Wales and continue to have to live in fear of the fires revisiting their homes in the coming weeks.
–
From Josh Cunningham, The Waifs:
“Anxiety, fear, dread and terror are just a few of the emotions I’ve personally experienced over these past weeks as a resident of the far south coast of NSW amidst the horrific bushfire crisis that grips my home state and many other parts of the country. And I’m one of the lucky ones whose property and life has been spared to this point. Many have not been so lucky and those who have are still on high alert as fires remain out of control and a very real and imminent threat. It’s a humbling privilege to be part of a benefit concert to help raise money and morale in the face of this horrendous crisis. Please be part of it and support the many in great need at this time”
–
From John Butler:
“A gig like this is the least we can do for all the communities that have suffered and fought these fires. Our hearts and prayers go out to all those that have fallen victim to this national disaster and hopefully gigs like this can make even smallest of meaningful difference”
–
From San Cisco:
“Fire fighters are utterly exhausted, people are losing their homes, people have died, animals are burning to a crisp and cities are choking. The images from these fires are so devastating and so confronting, it’s difficult to comprehend. And whilst fires ravage the nation on an unprecedented scale, our government STILL refuses to talk about climate change. It is beyond heartbreaking. The fire fighters and animal rescuers are doing an amazing job but need our continued support over what is going to be a long hot summer. That is why we are looking forward to performing alongside John Butler, The Waifs & Stella Donnelly with all proceeds from ticket sales contributing towards relief during this difficult time.”
–
From Stella Donnelly:
“I’m so grateful to be part of such an important event that shows WA’s heart.”
