On tour with Circles nationally throughout July & August

Young Ballarat alt-proggers Ebonivory have released the video for their brand new single, Patting the Black Dog, coinciding with them linking up with Melbourne riff specialists Circles on The ‘Winter’ Tour, which traverses 8 cities in Australia throughout July & August.
Patting the Black Dog was composed and mixed by lead vocalist Charlie Powlett, and mastered by Forrester Savell (Karnivool, Dead Letter Circus, Animal As Leaders), with a stunning music video captured by Dave Hunter of Circles and Band Factory Digital Media.
“Showing this track to the world signifies the beginning of a new era of Ebonivory; our first release since joining forces with Wild Thing Presents, a move that took our band of high school country kids to new heights,” Powlett explains. “Patting the Black Dog is a dialogue between the past and present self; a personal reflection on how our current circumstances can significantly shape our perception of the future.
More often than not, we define ourselves by our, and other’s successes. But, Patting the Black Dog proves to be a cathartic anthem of acceptance that yearns to demonstrate that all experiences, positive or negative, should be equally valued whilst playfully pulling the rug from beneath depression’s feet.
“This song pits brooding lyricism against vibrant instrumentation in a battle between visceral melody and mathematical rhythm; a common juxtaposition throughout our discography. We are extremely excited to have an engineer as highly esteemed as Forrester Savell mastering this release (Karnivool, Dead Letter Circus, Animals As Leaders), which is accompanied by the absolutely stunning music video directed, captured and edited by Dave Hunter of Circles, with gracious support from Madison Butterworth and SLC Sound & Light Concepts Ballarat.”

About Ebonivory
This world class 5-piece ensemble employs a unique distillation of alternative rock, progressive metal, post-hardcore and modern punk, delivering a breathtaking performance that unifies musicians, melomaniacs, and casual listeners alike.
Playing music that is an engaging mosaic of raw emotion, complex rhythmic devices, and prismatic melody, Ebonivory have been honing their craft since 2014 under the leadership of prodigious composer, multi instrumentalist and lead vocalist, Charlie Powlett.
The group launched their first EP Ebonivory I in 2014 with 2015 seeing their debut LP The Only Constant which became a progressive Australian cult classic and in 2016 released their second EP Ebonivory II. The band have built a reputation as an act that consistently delivers music that grows in ambition and scale with each release.
Kicking off with a whirlwind performance at Australia’s acclaimed PROGFEST festival, alongside international heavyweights The Ocean, Monuments and Skyharbor, 2019 is set to be the year of Ebonivory. In affiliation with management at Wild Thing Presents (home of Caligula’s Horse & Circles), Ebonivory will be touring Australia and beyond; supporting some of the world’s premier progressive acts. Early 2019 saw the Persistence Australian Tour, which included supporting alt-rock powerhouse Dead Letter Circus.
