DROVES UNLEASH GRITTY POST-PUNK BOP ‘TRASH’

+ ANNOUNCE TOUR

May 10, 2021

Showing no signs of slowing the relentless pace already set by the 5 piece in 2021, DROVES return with post-punk anthem ‘Trash‘.

Drawing on punk influences and blending them with a dance heavy chorus in a way that feels both nostalgic and fresh at the same time has become a calling card for DROVES.

Leaning into that very aesthetic, ‘Trash’ speaks to finding acceptance in yourself, battling against imposter-syndrome and overcoming feelings of being out of place. This new single is a call back to last year’s anthemic dance floor thumper ‘Cannibals‘ from the group that saw DROVES endear themselves to new fans internationally, particularly throughout Mexico.

After an emphatic return in the new year with the energetic and introspective dance hit ‘View‘, DROVES sold out their headline shows within hours of announcement. With the chorus of demands growing too loud to ignore, DROVES promptly followed-up with the re-release of nostalgic fan favourite ‘Time‘.

Now, the latest offering from the upcoming Self-Titled EP comes in the form of the new single ‘Trash’, as the Australian Music industry are quickly remembering the excitement that surrounded DROVES through their debut campaign.

Listen to ‘TRASH’

“Trash is the song that we’ve always wanted to write – a post-punk incantation about being your true self while being completely unapologetic about it.” Vocalist Phillip Spiteri says. “We wrote the song with the intention to hold suspense through the verse with a punk start that would break into a dance chorus and give the impression that this is a celebration.

To celebrate the release of ‘Trash’ and the return of dance floors to Australia, DROVES will be playing a limited run of shows across Australia’s east coast. Those who follow DROVES know that the band’s live show is not to be missed.

These performances offer an electric experience, be it at their sold out single launch, a slot on Farmer & The Owl Festival or key supports along-side the biggest upcoming names in Australian music like Cry ClubRAAVE TAPESBakers EddyJohnny Hunter and many more, the momentum behind DROVES is gathering like a rising tide.
