Light It Up! That’s exactly what Casey Barnes is doing with every new song and every live performance. He is set to reach even greater heights in 2022 with the release of his highly anticipated new album ‘Light it Up’ on Friday February 25 and a huge national tour set to kick off that day!
Produced by Melbourne based production team MSquared (Michael Delozrenzis and Michael Paynter), ‘Light It Up’ features ten new original songs, all co-written by Casey with MSquared and Nashville based singer/songwriters Kaci Brown and Sam Gray. Writing for the album took place over zoom sessions throughout the last eighteen months and they have once again delivered an album full of hook-laden, arena-sized anthems and lighter-in-the-air ballads.
The current single ‘God Took His Time On You’ is heating up the airways with additions to the Hit Network, Triple M and Nova as well as across the board support from country radio.
The track has reached the Top 20 most Shazamed songs in Australia, keeping company with Ed Sheeran and Olivia Rodrigo and is the undisputed crossover country hit of 2021. Written for Casey’s wife Michelle, many are calling ‘God Took His Time On You’ the wedding song of the year.

Up-tempo, feel good track ‘Come Turn Me On’ kicked off the ‘Light It Up’ album earlier this year, a smash at country radio as it spent five weeks at #1 on The Music Network CountryTown Hot50 chart, becoming another multi-million streaming hit in the process.
‘Light It Up’ follows Casey’s highly successful 2020 long player ‘Town of A Million Dreams’, the album achieving the trifecta of awards recognition – an ARIA Award, APRA Award and four Golden Guitar Award nominations – whilst introducing Casey to new audiences, both at home and internationally. To date, the album has racked up 70 weeks on the ARIA Australian Country Album chart, the longest running album released in the last two years.
And it’s not just on recordings and on the charts where Casey has shone during this time. Casey’s world-class live show has seen him win fans with every performance. Forced to cancel the majority of his ‘Town of A Million Dreams’ tour due to restrictions around COVID, the ‘Light It Up’ tour will be the first chance for many fans to catch live performances of songs from both albums.
The extensive run of dates will kick off in Casey’s old home state, Tasmania on Friday February 25, followed by performances in New South Wales, Australian Capital Territory, Victoria, South Australia and finishing up at his local base, the Gold Coast. It will take in a mix of venue shows and festivals, including Casey’s first ever appearances at the iconic Bluesfest, Byron Bay in April.
Casey commented on the year ahead, saying, “I feel like every day is bringing a new ‘pinch-me’ moment – from writing and recording these new songs, to getting added to radio and streaming playlists that I never expected I would be on, and now announcing what I hope will be my biggest album and tour yet. It’s been a huge effort putting this all together and wouldn’t be possible without the support from my family and my amazing team at Chugg Music. Thanks to everyone for their support and I can’t wait to get the ‘Light It Up’ album out there and hit the road.”
Executive Director of Chugg Music and industry legend, Michael Chugg AM, added, “Casey’s rise over the last two years has been impressive, with mainstream radio now coming on board and a growing fanbase in international markets. ‘Light It Up’ will be his biggest album and tour yet and the Chugg Music team are proud to be taking Casey’s music to the world.”
