Gippsland, Victoria metalcore legends ATLVS dropped their debut EP ‘Memoir‘ last Friday 14 June, produced, co-written/mixed & mastered by Ionei Heckenberg (Ocean Sleeper) at Zanari Records. The release of ‘Memoir’ brought track five, “Mercury“, featuring Jamie McLees of Lotus Eater into the limelight, and it’s a huge representation of what ATLVS has been working towards since their formation. ‘Memoir’ is out now and available to stream at ffm.to/atlvs_memoirep.
The most recent cut from the record was a hard-out metalcore banger entitled “Sick“, that came with a slick video (shot & edited by Martin Wood Imagery) to boot.
“Mercury” kicks things up a notch with its straight up brutality and a solid feature from Lotus Eater’s Jamie McLees. The track touches on feelings of anger felt from a betrayal from someone considered a close friend. “Mercury” has already been added to Spotify‘s Homegrown and Heavy playlist and is leading the way for this huge debut EP.
Since ‘Memoir’ dropped last Friday, the EP climbed its way to #3 on the iTunes metal charts, has had over 6,000 Spotify streams and has received love nationwide with a handful of media outlets singing its praise! Behind The Scene gave the EP an overall 88/100 and applauded the way the tracks “…demonstrate the band’s ability to create tight melodic solos, elegant electronics, uplifting clean vocals and bone-crushing breakdowns“.
The Soundcheck said that “…for a first release, there’s a surprising amount of signature flair and self-awareness peeping throughout ‘Memoir’, with the ATLVS gents ultimately gifting a crushing call to arms in the pursuit of who you really are via some tense and taut metalcore.” Wall Of Sound wrote that”ATLVS prove they’re a force to be reckoned with in the scene here, with their intense heavy breakdowns guaranteed to make even the most hardcore metal fan throw their hands up. Memoir is a solid debut that needs to be heard.”
Vocalist Jesse Buckingham explained that ‘Memoir’ follows themes of “…memory and the subjective nature of truth. We conjure memories to suit the mythology we create within ourselves and share with the people around us as a means to connect and relate. We all engineer a reality that is best suited to our collective and individual preference, and that, like everything in this life, comes at a cost.”
Forming in mid-to-late 2017, ATLVS has released a handful of singles to date which have been streamed all over the world and included on Spotify’s “Homegrown and Heavy” playlist and Apple Music’s A-List Metal and has been featured on triple j’s Short Fast Loud, triple j unearthed and The Faction Radio, as well as radio stations in the U.S and the U.K. ATLVS played a sold out debut show alongside Ocean Sleeper, Mirrors and Diamond Construct and then followed that up with shows with Drown This City, Rumours, Dream On Dreamer, Aburden and After Touch.
They destroyed the stage at Takedown Fest alongside Pridelands, Windwaker, The Gloom In The Corner, Wraith, 23/19 and Mauvais.
ATLVS’ ‘Memoir’ EP is out now and available at ffm.to/atlvs_memoirep. The track “Mercury” featuring Lotus Eater’s Jamie McLees is available now for streaming and purchase on all good digital outlets.
