Fusing colourful melodies with yearning indie-rock vocals, GOSH are back with a new single that is ready to pull heartstrings and encourage anthemic sing-alongs with their latest offering, ‘Never Lose You’.
The unveiling of the single comes at an exciting from for the Wollongong five-piece, who off the back of their single ‘Take A Leaf’ in 2018, generated solid hype around them as a band to watch, leading to GOSH taking out the Triple J Unearthed competition to perform at 2018’s Yours & Owls Festival.
Now, armed with new music and an East Coast tour, GOSH are kicking into 2019 with impressive sounds well in the pocket.
As with previous releases, ‘Never Lose You’ comes drenched in musically rich tones and charm. Recorded at The Grove Studios with Jack Nigro (DMA’s, Skegss) and Steve Smart (DZ Deathrays, City Calm Down), ‘Never Lose You’ came together out of organic recording sessions where the band’s dynamic was clicked in and operating in its best form. “‘Never Lose You’ came together pretty quickly. The melody’s got an odd familiarity to it straight off the bat, which was pretty apparent as soon as Zach first played it to everyone. It was a super interesting experience as a band to go through, actually!” GOSH
Having formed in 2018, GOSH wasted no time in hitting the ground running. Their debut single ‘Honestly’ was swiftly followed up with ‘Isle of Pines’, both singles stirring excitement and garnering attention surrounding the band’s strong emergence. Influences have included DMA’s, Catfish and The Bottlemen and Gang of Youths across their material, with GOSH finding common ground in well-written hook and chorus arrangements, while building melodies and swelling instrumentation is also an element of their musicianship that has shone from release to release.
The ‘Never Lose You’ music video, conceptualised and brought to life by the band, reflects their dynamic – charming and self-aware. Premiered by MusicFeeds this week, the greyscale video is another great insight into the band’s playful nature, behind the scenes.
PRAISE FOR GOSH
“I wanted to take my time listening before I reviewed this one. It’s got this familiarity to it and it’s so comforting to hear. I love the ambition and the grand moments that build throughout. Solid.”
Triple J Unearthed, Claire Mooney (‘Take A Leaf’, 2018)
“Their melodic brand of indie-rock has an earnestness amidst a very polished sound that is instantly likeable.”
Pilerats (‘Take A Leaf’, 2018)
“‘Take A Leaf’ showcases the band’s upbeat rocker vibes and solid grasp of pop hooks, juxtaposed against lyrics of self-exploration and old habits that die very, very hard.”
MusicFeeds (‘Take A Leaf’, 2018)
“This track has everything you would hope for in an indie rock song; it has charged, gritty vocals and a wall of layered guitar. A bouncy drum beat has you toe tapping and shouting the words to its anthemic chorus.”
AMNplify (‘Take A Leaf’, 2018)
Heading into May, GOSH will be bringing their new single and live show to venues down the country’s East Coast. Having cut their teeth on stages alongside the likes of Lime Cordiale and The Vanns over the past year has given GOSH the perfect opportunity to flex in front of growing audiences, while the momentum surrounding their music has also continued to flourish. With 2019 well underway, ‘Never Lose You’ is the beginning of a shining new chapter for GOSH.
