Monday May 2nd, 2022

Tony Cook is the latest Australian singer-songwriter who is beginning to make inroads into the increasingly popular country music scene. Tamworth’s People’s choice award winner for best male vocal 2019, Tony’s new release, Little Things, is set to establish the music artist’s burgeoning career.

Since 2015, the music artist has released a series of successful singles, including Long Live the Brave, Life’s Lessons, and Country Recognised and toured nationally, attracting a steady, loyal fan base, and refining his commercial contemporary country style. Written by Tony and produced by Aria and Golden Guitar winner Shane Nicholson, Little Things is a feel-good, upbeat song with a message that’s as universal as the appeal of the country genre.

Tony has toured extensively throughout the country, appearing at some of Australia’s most renowned music events, including Townsville’s Country Music Muster, Winton’s Way Out West Fest, Rockhampton’s Beef Week Australia, Julia Creek’s Dirt and Dust Festival, Rocky River Festival and Charters Towers Rocks. He has shared the stage with such illustrious music artists as Adam Brand, Travis Collins, Troy Cassar-Daley, The McClymonts, James Blundell, Phil Emmanuel, Mental as Anything, Wendy Mathews, and Russel Morris.

The track utilises the typically organic sound of traditional country—and a band whose collective energy and skill help imbue the track with a series of effective dynamics and restrained vibrancy—but contains a refined melodic sensibility, layering the lyric with a memorable potency. Tony explains the motivation and inspiration behind Little Things, ‘It was penned during Queensland’s three-week lockdown COVID, a big eye-opener for me.

I was taken aback by everyone’s lack of empathy and, I guess, kindness. I wanted to remind people that it’s the little things in life that really matter and that make the world a better place. I know I am a relatively unknown artist, and I guess the first two lines in the song acknowledge that, but if I could reach a wider audience, I’d reiterate the things I truly care about, be kind to others, be humble, and always remember that the gift of love will always remain.’
