Shine is a relatively new European pop-rock band fronted by Gregor Glanz, a renowned vocalist and musician in his own right in Austria.
The band has had four singles released so far, generating a lot of interest, streams, and radio play in their hometown and globally. In 2021 the band released Bring Me Back That Feeling, attracting support in Australia with additions and features on several networks around the country, including TRIPLE M, ABC COUNTRY, GRANT BROADCASTERS, KIX COUNTRY NETWORK, GRAFTON 1047, 2MO, and POWER100. The band is consolidating that success with a new release, Radio Star, a country-infused pop-rock track with a series of big hooks and a sound that’s as familiar as it is accessible.
As Gregor says about the new release, ‘This song is about longing for a very special person, who, in this case, is the radio star and describes a situation in which every one of us has surely found ourselves at some stage in our lives’. Shine utilises Gregor Glanz’s versatile vocal range to showcase a song that bridges styles while reinforcing the band’s trademark musical approach.
The track sounds like it takes its musical cues from several sources; it’s part Bon Jovi and part Rascal Flatts yet differs from those acts due to Glanz’s particular vocal style. Perhaps the most common attribute it shares with the mentioned acts above relates to the melodic format; a big pay-off chorus and subsequent neat resolve is always part of the armoury.
The track chugs along at quite a pace, with careful attention to the dynamics; for example, the pre-chorus beat turnaround allows the chorus to take flight, providing the requisite highs and lows of the pop-rock formula.
The new track merges straight-ahead rock grooves with a pop immediacy and adds a hint of country, incorporating these styles’ feel-good energy into a direct and distinct-sounding whole. Radio Star will undoubtedly appease fans of Bring Me Back The Feeling and add to Shine’s global presence.
