JOEY PAUL – WILDHEART ‘SINGLE REVIEW’

Thursday 24 June, 2021

Joey Paul has got to be a contender for the next big thing to come out of Australia. After releasing a series of singles, including ConfessionMake Believe, and Alone Tonight, the emerging singer-songwriter has released Wild Heart.

The new release is an exceptional contemporary indie-pop tune that will undoubtedly garner unanimous support and praise. The new record features an organic sound, subtle, memorable hooks, engaging performances, and a relatable, universal lyric.

As Joey has said about the lyric, ‘When I was writing the song, I wanted to give people the feeling of when you are on a first date, and you don’t know what the future will bring. Full of uncertainty with so many possibilities.’

That feeling and a sense of those possibilities are palpable on Wild Heart, with the level of intimacy heightened by evocative vocal performances. Wild Heart also features the vocals of Clare Munnings, whose finely wrought cadences provide the perfect accompaniment to Joey’s authentically pure approach. Reminiscent of such artists as Jack Johnson, John Mayer, Passenger and Ed Sheeran, Wild Heart features pared-back instrumentation that allows the melody to rise above the understated groove and let Joey’s (and Clare’s) voice illuminate. Intimate and personal, the track also has a whimsical quality, idealistic yet full of hope and positivity. The track is a slow and steady build, with its hooks taking you along for an alluring and life-affirming ride.

As Joey has said about his songwriting, ‘I’m always full of song ideas and love nothing more than to share them with as many people as possible. I want to inspire people with my stories and the songs I write.’ Joey Paul’s new track will undoubtedly receive across the board attention and lots of streaming site action. Wild Heart is released by RedFan Records and available to stream on Spotify and Apple Music.
