DAYS LIKE THESE RELEASE NEW SINGLE “GRAVITY”

+ ANNOUNCE ‘WIDE AWAKE’ EP

‘WIDE AWAKE’ EP WILL BE AVAILABLE MAY 14

March 05, 2021

Brisbane’s Days Like These are back with a vengeance. It’s been nearly two years since the last release and the band are in fine form, and finally unleashing brand new single “Gravity“. The new single also accompanies the announcement of the release of their upcoming EP, ‘Wide Awake‘ – available Friday May 14.

“Gravity” is the first single to release from ‘Wide Awake’, produced, mixed and mastered by Chris Lalic (Windwaker), who helped guide the band into a more refined space and enabled them to become the band they always wanted to be. “Gravity” features catchy melodies, simple and effective guitar hooks and an in-depth exploration into more electronic soundscapes and textures.

Welcoming two new members, Connor Robins and Jamo Benadie, this single marks the first from a new, rebranded, bold and unique Days Like These. “We feel that this song is the ultimate summary of where we currently are as a band” explains frontman Callen Batson.

Gravity is a look into the struggles of anxiety and displacement that I face in social situations. As long as I can remember, I’ve felt uncomfortable around people I don’t know so well and/or simply feeling out of place within a group. Not knowing when to speak or what to say and then getting trapped in my head about these feelings, has been a hurdle to overcome. The song looks into moving forward and breaking myself away from these thoughts and habits.

On top of the release of brand new music, 2021 also brings the announcement of the bands first show in over a year. Days Like These will be joining Belle Haven‘s ‘Nobody Likes A Hospital‘ tour to play the Brisbane leg at Black Bear Lodge on Thursday March 11 alongside Adelaide infectious rock outfit, Alt.. Tickets on sale now via Destroy All Lines.

Days Like These is Callen Batson (vocals), Noah Murphy (drums/vocals), Connor Robins, (bass) Jamo Benadie (guitar) and Russell Hodgeson (guitar). The band burst onto the scene in 2018, jumping on stage to support Stepson at their sold out all ages Brisbane show in August, backing it up with another set alongside Awaken I Am and Picturesque (USA) in October before rounding out the year supporting We Set Signals in November.

2019 brought the release of singles “The Absolute” and “Antidote“, highlighting the band as ones to watch in the Brisbane alternative scene and saw the band join Brisbane’s huge ‘Bris Big 4‘ Festival with Shorelines, Stepson, The BraveShe Cries Wolf and Deadlights. The end of 2019 saw Days Like These travel to Melbourne and Sydney to play to new audiences before finishing the year with a sold out Brisbane show alongside Ocean Sleeper and Stepson.

Days Like These spent 2020 working tirelessly towards their upcoming ‘Wide Awake’ EP – due out Friday May 14. In the meantime, “Gravity” is a taste of what’s to come, and is available tomorrow, Friday March 5, on all digital and streaming platforms.
