‘Song For You’ is a moving and melodic ballad by Newcastle band Glovers Lane. The clean and gentle sounding electric guitar provides a warm and softly-moving chordal pattern, which creates a wonderful layer for the warm male vocal to sit upon.
The lyrics of the song explore feelings of fragility and the willingness to allow someone beyond the emotional walls we put up to save ourselves from being hurt. By virtue of its name, ‘Song For You’ is a dedication, but also carries with it a hesitation of allowing oneself to be hurt too easily.
The single is also accompanied by the official film clip, which was filmed upon lead singer Woodie’s rooftop, guitar in hand, and hat by his side. Woodie melodically delivers the song to both the gum trees around him, and cars beneath him. The golden glow of the late afternoon sun lights the scene behind him, before gradually pulling away to reveal the sparkling waters of Lake Macquarie.

Glovers Lane is a five-piece band based in Newcastle, Australia. Performing together since 2018, each of the five members bring their own different influences into the songwriting process that has created a sound that is often described as a modern take on Motown with elements of rock.
Having won the Newcastle Passport to Airlie Beach competition in 2019, the group travelled to the beautiful white sands to perform at the well acclaimed Airlie Beach Festival of Music.
“Song For You” follows the well received release of an isolation cover of The Beatles classic “With A Little Help From My Friends”. Coordinated by keys player Matt Cross, this track was particularly well-received in a time when the local music industry was struggling.
The cover features over 30 artists from across the Hunter region, all of whom recorded their parts from home isolation. Since its release in April, the video that was launched by Newcastle Live has amassed over 50k views with the numbers still growing.
