RACKETT NEW SINGLE & VIDEO ILY ALLEY

+ PARTNERS WITH HEAPS GAY

May 04, 2020

RACKETT shares new love ballad ILY Alley (I Love You, Alley), a tribute to former RACKETT bass player Alley that celebrates friendship. The song is the third single from the newly transformed RACKETT, following the release of Machinations and Oxytoxic

ILY Alley was produced by Dave Hammer, echoing the intricate production reminiscent of his work on JEFFE’s ‘Undecided’. Layers of piano and vocals amidst a synthetic soundscape, ILY Alley showcases a softer side of RACKETT that contrasts her repertoire of abrasive electro pop-punk.

With lyrics ‘swapping cassettes, sharing regrets, karaoke drunk duets’, ILY Alley tells a story of the former band members at a crossroad. Whilst in the studio tracking guitars for their last EP in 2018 as a band, it was revealed that Alley was going to become a mum, leading the band to make a heartwrenching decision that changed the course of their lives.

ILY Alley video clip was made using over one hundred clips captured over four years of the band, from touring Australia with The Darkness and Stonefield to dancing on the tabletops in the kitchen of the decrepit mansion RACKETT lived in with the band and that moment RACKETT shaved her head during her performance for Jack River’s Electric Lady World.

The single is one of eight tracks, co-written and produced by Dave Hammer in Sydney prior to RACKETT relaunching herself in October 2019 and headlining her own fourteen date tour of Japan.

Upon returning to Australia to tour, RACKETT revealed her new sound and electronic stage show to fans in Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane in early 2020, sharing her platform with performers from the LGBTQIA community. Inspired by this experience, RACKETT featured eight, up and coming drag queens in her music video for OXYTOXIC.

Bringing her music from the studio to stage is an element of the creative process RACKETT thrives on. Where 2019 had her touring nationally as well as internationally throughout Japan, RACKETT’s touring teeth have been well and truly sharpened, with tours alongside the likes of Jack River, The Growlers, DZ Deathrays and The Darkness introducing her to the hunger for live music only satiated by bombastic live performances.

Having had her tour for ILY Alley cancelled due to recent events surrounding COVID-19, RACKETT has partnered with Heaps Gay to produce a digital live music and performance art series called Loud N Queer TV.

RACKETT will also play the host of the program alongside Jordan Raskopoulos. Listen Up Music and Create or Die have also joined the team as partners with the first episode scheduled for airing April 10th, 2020 and hosted on Heaps Gay digital platforms. So far the following artists have performed live and or scheduled for the coming weekly episodes; Theia (NZ) // Tom Aspaul (LND) // Eilish Gilligan // Lupa J // Asta // Lauren SG // Dante Knows (USA) // Imbi // BOI // Jess B (NZ) // Jackie  Mendoza (USA)  // Phebe Starr // Sparrow and more.

ILY Alley is released Friday, May 1st 2020
